Overview
A room for the neighborhood.
Common Ground brings daylight deep into a narrow plot through a planted light well. The interior is honest and hard-wearing, made to welcome regulars for years.
The Brief
Create a welcoming café that works from early mornings to evening events, on a tight budget.
The Approach
We opened the center of the plan to the sky and arranged seating around it. Concrete, oak, and steel keep the palette robust and easy to maintain.
Key Details
Planted light well · Shared tables · Robust materials · Flexible event layout
Outcome
A bright, easygoing space that quickly became part of the neighborhood’s daily routine.
